I found my niche! Woohoo!

It has been an amazing ride so far in the last five months when my journey into data science started. I have been stretched, challenged, and most importantly growing in this field. Every baby step has amounted to a great milestone for me.

At some point, I had no idea what laid ahead, did not know if I was doing the right things to help my career and I had moments of self-doubts until one morning, I received a WhatsApp message from Allison telling me to apply for a mentorship program organized by She Code Africa (SCA) designed for women in tech. This program connects women with experienced people in various tech fields to be mentored by them.

I applied and fortunately, I was accepted for the program. I was placed under an amazing mentor Countess Olufunmilayo with other women who, like me, were trying to find their path in data science.

Through this program, I have been encouraged to author articles, work on Kaggle projects to improve my analytical skills as well as writing and communication skills and to boost my confidence in myself.

I am still in the program and hopefully I will continue to grow. I have been able to see what lies ahead to some degree in my tech journey through the eyes of my experienced mentor.

The need for mentors cannot be over emphasized for anyone who wants to make a headway in life as this helps make one’s journey easier and prevents one from repeating mistakes by learning from people who have been in the journey before us.
